Tuesday 14th September 2010,
Today in period 1 we were in music room 3 with Mr Truscott on the computers. We had to reasearch music venues and save the name and address in our reasearch folder. After this we wrote down all about Audiences using Microsoft OneNote which I had never used before. We then went to Mr Romer in S9 and had to find 4 venues we are going to check out. One is a Music Concert venue, another is a Theatre Prodution venue, one is a radio and television venue and the other is a Art exhibition. I said I would find out if we could go to a fashion show. We looked for these venues because we are going to interview the team at these certain places for our film about creative Leeds. Then in Miss Woffindon's lesson we watched several you tube clips of Johnothan Ross. We saw him interviewing Lady Gaga and Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson. I jotted down notes about his interviewing skills and techniques to help us with ours. The notes I wrote down are:
He shows warmth as he introduces/ greets his guests, He is a very good active listener (nodding, smiling, expressions ect...), He gives eye contact and tries to intigate conversations when the guests are a little more nervous about answering, He ,akes jokes to engage the guest and to keep the balance of who is speaking flowing, He asks open answers so the guest is more open to his and tells him more, He makes sure he knows all the infromation about who he is interviewing, He is very honest and speaks his mind which makes him quite brave as you don't know how the guest will react, He adapts his style to the type of person he is interviewing. He also knows when to finish the interview. He tells the audience as much as he can and he uses props, backgrounds, pictures, video clips ect... to set the scene and context.
We then made these into a table with a yes/no collum, a marks /10 collum and a explanation collum. We then went and redid our interviews after watching them to improve on mistakes, sound quality ect... Whilst watching the video clips we had to fill in our table and evaluate the person interviewing you. This will really help me when I come to do our actual interview with someone in leeds. I will ue techniques learnt from Johnothan Ross and hopefull be very successfull. Last period we were with Mr Romer again editing the videos we had made. Also we planned a route round the school in you pair or three. We then recorded all of this and then sped it up, slowed it down, added text, added music ect... I found today really helpful in every lesson.
